Screening should be something you read, not something you do

Alert Hire is built in Sydney by Alert AI Pty Ltd for recruitment agencies that get more applications than any person can read, and want every one of them read anyway.

Why this exists

A recruiter posts a role on a Tuesday afternoon and has eighty applications by Wednesday morning. Somewhere in that pile are five people worth calling. The rest of the week goes on finding them, and the eighty candidates hear nothing until it is over, if they hear anything at all.

Alert Hire reads every application the moment it lands in the ATS, grades it against the criteria the recruiter wrote, and starts a screening conversation with everyone above the line the same day. By morning the recruiter has a ranked shortlist with the reasoning attached, and every candidate has had a conversation instead of a week of silence.

Who builds it

Alert AI builds AI systems that take over whole workflows for Australian businesses: accounts payable, compliance checks, sales follow-up, the kind of work that used to mean another hire. Alert Hire is what happened when that work met recruitment. It is a product of Alert AI Pty Ltd, based in Sydney, and the same team runs it day to day.

Who writes here

Andy Thompson founded Alert AI and builds Alert Hire. He has started four companies and sold two of them, both in 2026. Most of his work is on systems that take a whole job function and run it, rather than tools that help a person do the same job faster. He writes the posts on this site, and the opinions in them are his.

We are small, and we would rather show you the product than talk about ourselves. If you want to reach the person who built it, contact us or book a demo and you will.

What we hold to

Four rules the product is built around

01

The AI grades. People decide.

Alert Hire scores, ranks, asks and summarises. It never declines a candidate, and it never sends an outcome unless a recruiter switches that on.

02

Every score explains itself

A grade you cannot read the reasoning for is a grade you cannot trust or defend. Every sub-score points at the words in the CV or the answer that produced it.

03

Your ATS is the system of record

We read from it and write back only what you switch on. Nothing you rely on lives only in Alert Hire.

04

Candidate data stays in Australia

Stored encrypted in Australian data centres, kept only as long as you set, never used to train models, purged when you say so. What candidates are told.

See it on one of your own roles

An afternoon to connect the ATS and write your criteria. After that, screening is something you read.
