A same-day conversation with every candidate worth talking to

Within minutes of applying, every candidate above your threshold hears back. Alert Hire introduces itself as working for your named recruiter, asks your screening questions one at a time, and lets them answer on their own schedule.

A screening conversation in Alert Hire is an automated two-way exchange by SMS, WhatsApp or email that asks a candidate your own screening questions, one at a time and untimed, within minutes of them applying. It says it is an AI in the first message and hands anything off-script to a recruiter.

Updated 10 September 2026.

What the candidate sees

Plain language, one question at a time, no timer

The first message says who it is and who it works for. Then it asks your questions in order, over the channel the candidate already uses. They can answer in a minute or come back that evening. Nothing expires.

It follows up when an answer is unclear, and it stops when it has what you asked for. It does not improvise questions of its own.

Channels

Wherever the candidate already is

SMS

The default for most roles. Highest reply rate, works on any phone, and a candidate on a site or a ward can answer between jobs.

WhatsApp

For candidates who applied from overseas or prefer it. Same questions, same script, longer answers when they want to give them.

Email

When there is no mobile number, or for senior roles where a considered written answer is what you want to read.

What goes to a person

Off-script means a recruiter, not a guess

The conversation has one job: your screening questions. When a candidate raises something outside that, Alert Hire tells them a recruiter will follow up, and puts it in your Needs you queue with the full context.

That covers salary negotiation, flexibility requests, health or family disclosures, complaints, questions about the client, and anything else it should not answer on your behalf.

Salary and package

Expectations are captured if you asked for them. Negotiation is never attempted.

Flexibility and hours

"Can I do four days?" is escalated with the candidate's words, not answered.

Health, family, disability

Acknowledged once, handed to you, and kept out of the score.

Complaints and confusion

A candidate who is unhappy or lost gets a person, the same day, with what was said so far.

"Am I talking to a bot?"

Answered honestly, every time, and the candidate can ask for a person at any point.

What you get back

A summary you can read in thirty seconds

Two-paragraph summary

What the candidate said, in order, with the parts that matter for the role pulled forward. Written for the recruiter, not for the candidate.

Extracted answers

Each screening question with the candidate's answer next to it, so notice period, availability and right to work are fields, not paragraphs.

Status and score

The conversation feeds the candidate's overall score and sets a status: Screened, Interviewed, Ready to call or Escalated. Both can write back to your ATS.

Questions about the conversation

Telling a candidate they are talking to software is not just manners. The OAIC’s guidance on commercially available AI products puts transparency at the centre of using AI on personal information. The general list of questions is on the home page. Anything else: admin@alertai.com.au.

Yes, in the first message. It says what it is and which recruiter it is working for before it asks anything, and it answers honestly every time a candidate asks again.

You do, per role. It asks yours in order and does not invent questions of its own. Anything a CV cannot tell you, like notice period or shift flexibility, belongs here rather than in the grading criteria.

It stops and hands over. Salary negotiation, flexibility requests, health or family disclosures and complaints all go to your Needs you queue with the context, and the candidate is told a recruiter will follow up.

SMS by default, because it has the highest reply rate and works on any phone. WhatsApp for candidates who prefer it or applied from overseas, and email when there is no mobile number or a written answer is what you want. The questions are the same on all three.

Every candidate answered the day they applied. Every answer in front of you by morning.

Bring your current screening questions. We will run them against a live role in the demo.
